Idle MARCS radios to be deactivated July 15

Idle MARCS radios to be deactivated July 15

The Multi-Agency Radio Communications System (MARCS) facilitates reliable communication among first responders that is critical to protecting the health and safety of Ohioans during emergency situations.

MARCS radios are critical components of the system and must be authenticated, or link layered, as an increased safety and security measure to safeguard against unauthorized people using and listening on the system and against anyone who would attempt to disrupt the system.

In order to further the process of securing the MARCS radio system, any radio that has not affiliated with the system for the previous three years and remains unauthenticated will be deactivated on July 15, 2026.  MARCS customers with radios that have been inactive for the last three years must authenticate them immediately to continue using them after July 15.

Visit DAS.Ohio.gov/MARCS for more information about MARCS radio authentication.
