Time to Start, Time to Stop, an element of Action v. Reaction.

Writer's picture: Jeffrey EhaszJeffrey Ehasz

Several times a year, police officers are fired or charged because of the “excessive number of shots fired” during a deadly force incident.

Seeing an individual shot after they are “no longer threat” can make people very uneasy.  It’s a crime…

This rips the agency apart and destroys the life and career of the officer.  Not to mention the effect it has on the citizen or their family.

Sad thing is…

The officer is almost always reasonable in their response.

Jamie Borden and Danny King talk about how this happens, how to investigate it, and what you need to know about the time to start and the time to stop shooting during OIS investigations.
