The Department of Justice just recently released the COPS Grant (COPS Hiring Program). The purpose of the grant is to provide funding directly to law enforcement agencies to hire and/or rehire law enforcement officers in an effort to increase their community policing and crime prevention efforts. This is one of the federal grants which OCJS does not serve as a pass-through agency for, therefore I am not as familiar with this grant but still wanted to make sure you were all aware of this grant opportunity. Please note this is the only grant I know of which is exclusively intended for hiring needs, so please try to take advantage of this grant if it fits your agency’s needs.
