Everyone,

I want to provide you with information regarding Mount Vernon Police Department, Assistant Chief, Andrew Burns.

Chief Burns gave a presentation at our local chief’s meeting this morning.  He is also with the Mount Vernon Association of Police Chaplains (MVAPC) and was part of creating that program.

MVAP received grant funds that are centered around assisting first responders in times of need.  The assistance can be anonymous and it sounds like their agency is doing some really great things to assist people in need.  For example, he described providing funds for an injured officer to have handrailing installed in his home, among other scenarios.

He asked that if you have anyone that is in crisis or some sort of circumstance, where they could use some assistance to please reach out to him now or in the future.  He is also willing to come provide information at one of your local chiefs meetings or other events.

Assistant Chief, Andrew Burns

Are police officers who defend themselves in officer-involved shootings victims of a crime?   Anyone who knows me knows my response would be "yes" (in most cases). But my opinion doesn't really matter
